“Esto es absurdo, pero creo que puedo justificarlo. ¿Quién no desconfiaría de una persona que dijera: yo y mis compañeros somos apariencias, somos una nueva clase de fotografías?” (Adolfo Bioy Casares, La invención de Morel, 1940).
Cada vez nos acercamos más a los sistemas complejos de pensamiento que se distancian de los sistemas normativos predecibles, lo complejo no entiende de centralidad y se despliega creando rutas muchas veces laberínticas. La instalación de Neoptiks b se hace a partir de la estructuración de un génesis que desborda la pintura y cobra toda su dimensión en el anuncio de la creación de vida artificial. Karen Aune recurre a seres abisales, animales casi desconocidos, un ojo que nos interpela, imagen que toma de una radiografía de una operación láser, y que nos proporciona una nueva visión y nos sumerge en un abismo fantasmagórico de conocimiento, que se despliega relacionando la ciencia, la ficción y la impotencia humana, reflejada en las nuevas tecnologías. Esa nueva visión se presenta como un mapa para representar lo insondable y nos invita a recorrerlo, perdernos o sumergirnos en él, como lo anunció el filósofo y sociólogo Jean Baudrillard: la representación del territorio se ha convertido en un mapa.
Tal vez, esta nueva visión que plantea Karen Aune, de ese tercer ojo y de los abisales que emerge del piélago, hacia una superficie de un amarillo fluorescente que permite que la luz ilumine, nos cuestiona sobre nuestra visión no solo física, sino de un presente —futuro no muy lejano—. Neoptiks Beta, más allá de constituirse en instalación pictórica realizada a partir de módulos, nos insta a pensar en los procesos de creación, en la clonación, en las mutaciones, en lo virtual y, por supuesto, en lo real. Invitación que está en consonancia con la dificultad que existe en el mundo contemporáneo para comprender qué es una representación y diferenciar lo que busca representar: realidad o ficción.
Nos anuncia un ser posorgánico que se construye como lo anuncia el artista Eduardo Kats: “Los procesos biológicos se han vuelto programables, ahora también son capaces de almacenar y procesar datos de maneras que no difieren demasiado de las computadoras digitales” [1].
Karen Aune nos traza los indicios para acercarnos a un mundo en que lo virtual comienza a primar y a interactuar con nosotros. Entendemos que lo virtual en este momento ha alcanzado espacios impensados y eso que llamamos realidad virtual no es más una simulación que antecede y define lo que llamamos realidad. Las fronteras entre lo original y la copia se han disipado, la creación de sus imágenes anamórficas, que se deforman intencionalmente, y que nos recuerdan a los cuerpos sin órganos de Francis Bacon y que se han creado a partir de otras imágenes bajadas de internet, de fotografías prestadas, radiografías, son una excusa para la clonación. Cuestionan qué es original y qué es una copia en el mundo contemporáneo. Igualmente, las preguntas técnicas que surgen a partir de la combinación entre la pintura digital y la pintura tradicional y su mimesis quedan relegadas ante los cuestionamientos de la producción de los seres posorgánicos instaurados a partir de procesos programables en un computador, así la gran pintura se convierte en una pantalla que podemos observar.
La problemática del cuerpo-ficción, cuerpo-máquina, se subraya en esta instalación y se hace evidente que el computador es un dispositivo programable para algún propósito, en este caso, podríamos pensar que Aune desea un cuerpo inorgánico, e “ignorar cuáles son las moscas verdaderas y las artificiales [2] y penetrar el esquema divino del universo”, como lo enfatizó Borges.
